Patio Builder
Grand Rapids, MI
Think that patios are only reserved for Mediterranean houses, or those overlooking ocean valleys? Well, think again. If you want a place to hang out in your yard that is both functional and beautiful, then opt for a patio.
The great thing about a patio is that it can be put anywhere in your yard, without it having to be right outside your door, and the materials used are usually stronger than a deck or porch, so it can handle a lot more foot traffic.
We have been patio contractors for years, and have literally seen it all. If you want a dedicated space in your yard for entertaining, lounging on a patio swing, or a place for your kids to plate freely, then a patio can give you it all.
A patio in your yard will increase the value of your home while bringing more space. A stable sandpit is great for younger kids, teens will love to play games with friends, and you will enjoy entertaining. A patio looks great, gives endless possibilities, and can be placed anywhere.

What You Should Know About Patios...
Most people have space in their yard for a patio, but not everyone can accommodate a deck. One of the main differences between a deck and a patio is that a patio can be built anywhere, not just outside of your back door.
You will also find that patios are crafted from more durable materials like concrete and stone, and the materials sit in the ground, while decks are raised (even if only slightly). They are easy to keep clean (you can powerwash a patio), they can be hidden away in greenery if you wish, and they benefit from being more open without handrails and stairs, saving you money on materials.
The possibilities for patios are endless. Think of anything that you can do on a flat, stable surface, and you can do that with a patio. Place furniture, decorations, statues, swings, play equipment, shade structures, and more.

Types Of Patio Material
Concrete
Concrete is a classic material for patios. The main benefit of using concrete is that you can customize it to any shape. If you have an area that you want to place a patio, but it is not a regular shape, a mold can be created, and concrete can be poured.
As the concrete is poured in one solid block, you never have to worry about weeds growing through the cracks. In fact, you never have to worry about cracks at all. This gives you the most stable foundation possible, and no chair legs, or anything else, will slip into the cracks.
Concrete is easy to use, and relatively inexpensive.
Stone Paver
Stone pavers are great to add some character and charm to a yard. They come in large pieces, and all you have to do is lay them in or on the ground. As patio builders, we can do that hard work for you.
Stone pavers are extremely durable and have more character than concrete, but they are also more expensive. Stone pavers come in many different colors, so you will be able to find something to match your yard.
If you ever change your mind about a patio, you can lift pavers and move them.
Finished Concrete
Regular concrete is not to everyone’s taste, so finished concrete may be an option if you are willing to spend a little extra money. We can talk you through all of your options if you need a hand.
You gain the same benefits from finished concrete as you do from regular concrete, but you can add some color or a pattern. While the concrete is still malleable, a pattern can be added to the top. You can make it look like slabs, crazy paving, or anything else.
Before the concrete is used, a finish can be applied to add more texture or some color. This extra finish will also help to protect the concrete, creating a longer-lasting patio.
Treated Wood & Composite
If you are worried about the cost of a patio, then treated wood or composite will be your friend. Both types of material can be placed directly in the ground, and the treatment will help in resisting moisture in the earth, creating a patio that will last (though not as long as stone and concrete).
A benefit of using wood is that it will match any other wooden structures in your yard, and you can easily attach a shade structure to it. You can also finish the wood exactly as you would like it. There are endless colors to choose from and the finishing options are more numerous than your other patio options.
Benefits Of Having A Patio
With a patio, the options are endless. A patio gives you more space and will increase the square footage of your residence. When the hotter months hit, it is the perfect way to enjoy your outdoor space, while providing integrated beauty.
A patio gives you a place to bask in the sun or enjoy the cool air, either with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. By having the choice of where to put your patio, you can create different aesthetics. Place it by your back door for a great place to barbecue, or hidden in the bushes as a secret hideout for your children.
